This Week In ESL Class

September 8-12, 2008

This week we will be learning vocabulary about things in school. The words your child will be introduced to are listed below. There are too many words to remember them all.

We will be playing games to help your child learn many of these words, not all of them. Your child will also receive a picture dictionary that has pictures of all of these words. It will help them in the classroom.

You can help your child learn these words and other words by visiting some of the websites listed on the right side. Please read the important message at the bottom of the list!

A Program for Mom's of English Lang Learners

Many moms who move to this area from other countries have unique needs, including acclimating to a new language and culture. Discovery was started with those needs in mind. Discovery meets on Wed. from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at 1st Baptist in CS. The meetings include a social time, basic English lessons, programs on interesting topics, and small group classes. This year the programs will focus on the theme of places to visit in the countries of the women in class and in Texas. .....After the program, the women can sign up to join a small interest group such as cooking sewing, crafts, cake decorating. ....

Child care is provided or preschool... The goal is helping international women improve their English and adjust to a new country through fun and friendship. Discovery has been meeting for 42 years.

Membership usually includes women from 20-40 countries.

Registration is Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. http://www.discoveryprogram.us/, Belinda Hallmark at 828-3721.
